His passing in 2017 was a great loss to the world of architecture, and all those who knew and admired his lifetime of achievements. Those of us that live in the Twin Palms neighborhood were saddened by his passing but rejoice that our lives continue to be enriched by the legacy he left our neighborhood.
To honor Mr. Krisel and say thank you for creating the blueprint for our neighborhood, one of our members wrote a Tribute to Mr. Krisel. This 1-page Tribute highlights some of the key achievements of his professional career, but a full recounting would take several volumes to begin to do justice to an extraordinary career.
What a Difference a Decade Makes
Over the past 10 years, many William Krisel designed homes in Twin Palms have undergone extensive renovations. Of these, most of the exteriors now look much as they did when the first owners moved into the neighborhood in 1957. In a few cases, Mr. Krisel lent his expertise and access to his extensive architectural records to advise on the restorations. For example, his archives include the original exterior house colors. He even designed new landscapes for a few lucky homeowners.
Mr. Krisel was very pleased that his homes in Twin Palms were being so respectfully preserved for future generations to see and enjoy.
