After over 2 years of planning, the Groundbreaking for the remodel and expansion of Fire Station Number 4 was held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 9:00 am.
Located at 1300 La Verne Way, the station was originally opened in 1971. All 5 members of the City Council and key City staff including the City Manager were in attendance. This project was made possible by funding from the City of Palm Springs and Measure J tax dollars.
Hugh Kaptur, the original architect, was honored and thanked for his work in guiding the exterior design of the station remodel and expansion. TPNO played a key role in ensuring that Mr. Kaptur was asked to lend his unique expertise to the preservation of this architecturally significant building in our neighborhood.
Station 4 will be reopened in mid-2019 to continue its legacy of almost 5 decades of service to the south end of Palm Springs.
