The Twin Palms Neighborhood Organization held its Seventh Annual General Membership meeting on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 10:15 am at the historic Ocotillo Lodge Clubhouse.
After a year long pause due to Covid, this was our first general membership meeting since the November 23, 2019 social membership meeting held at the local Fire Station #4. Over 30 people enjoyed refreshments from Aspen Mills Bakery prior to the meeting and a boxed lunch at the conclusion of the meeting. This provided an informal opportunity for everyone to socialize with their neighbors.
A major highlight of the meeting was a presentation by David Hyams, a local Palm Spring resident. He shared his research about the impact of the Alexander Construction Company, and the members of the Alexander family, on Palm Springs and the Twin Palms neighborhood. Mr. Hyams played a lead role in the recent application for the newly installed Alexander Family Star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars. Twin Palms Neighborhood Organization made a $1,000 Community Grant to to help underwrite the costs related to this Star.
Other meeting highlights included presentation of TPNO award presentations including the Fourth Annual Eric Chiel TPNO Leadership Award to Michele Johnson, a history of TPNO’s key accomplishments, organizational structure, community relations, and a recap of recent organizational accomplishments, ongoing activities, and planned activities. The membership also voted to concur with the three current Advisory Board members appointed by the Board, and to extend the terms of all 5 current Board members until the Spring 2022 General Membership Annual Meeting.
